Heating Tech

About Us

The Certified Heating Technician (CHT) and Certified Geothermal Technician (CGT) programs are the collaborative effort of the Thermal Environmental Comfort Association BC (TECA BC) and GeoExchange BC. These associations represent the interests of the residential heating, ventilation and cooling contractors involved in all types of residential construction, their employees, and representatives from the general business and construction community.

In 2006, TECA with GeoExchange BC collaborated on a proposal to encompass all three streams of the residential heating and cooling apprenticeship: Forced Air, Hydronics, and Geothermal.

The Residential Construction Industry Training Organization (RCITO) sponsored the proposal for a new certified trade and training program as it went before the Industry Training Authority (ITA). In October of 2006, the proposal for a new credential and training program earned final approval from the ITA and RCITO is currently working with TECA and GeoExchange BC to implement the training program.
